Chapter 2 Verse 70

Aapooryamaanam, achalprtishtham, samudrm, aapH, prvishanti, yadvat,
Tadvat, kaamaaH, yam, prvishanti, sarve, saH, shaantim, aapnoti, na, kaamkaami ||70||

Translation: (Yadvat) like various rivers (aapH) water when (aapooryamaanam) full from all sides (achalprtishtham) fixed position (samudrm) in the ocean, not disturbing it (prvishanti) enter into it (tadvat) similarly (sarve) all (kaamaaH) desires (yam) in a person with stable mind without arising any defect (prvishanti) merge (saH) that man only (shaantim) supreme peace (aapnoti) attains (kaamkaami) one who strives for the fulfilment of desires (na) not. (70)

Translation

Just as the water of various rivers enter into the ocean, which is full from all sides and has a fixed position, without disturbing it; similarly, all desires merge in a person with a stable mind without arising any defect. Only that man attains supreme peace and not one who strives for the fulfilment of desires.


आपूर्यमाणम्, अचलप्रतिष्ठम्, समुद्रम्, आपः, प्रविशन्ति, यद्वत्,
तद्वत्, कामाः, यम्, प्रविशन्ति, सर्वे, सः, शान्तिम्, आप्नोति, न, कामकामी।।70।।

अनुवाद: (यद्वत्) जैसे नाना नदियोंके (आपः) जल जब (आपूर्यमाणम्) सब ओरसे परिपूर्ण (अचलप्रतिष्ठम्) अचल प्रतिष्ठावाले (समुद्रम्) समुद्रमें उसको विचलित न करते हुए ही (प्रविशन्ति) समा जाते हैं (तद्वत्) वैसे ही (सर्वे) सब (कामाः) भोग (यम्) जिस स्थितप्रज्ञ पुरुषमें किसी प्रकारका विकार उत्पन्न किये बिना ही (प्रविशन्ति) समा जाते हैं (सः) वही पुरुष (शान्तिम्) परम शान्तिको (आप्नोति) प्राप्त होता है (कामकामी) भोगोंको चाहनेवाला (न) नहीं। (70)
