Chapter 2 Verse 45

TraigunyavishyaaH, vedaH, nistraigunyaH, bhavH, Arjun,
NirdwandwaH, nityasatvasthH, niryogkshemH, aatmvaan’ ||45||

Translation: (Arjun) Oh Arjun! (traigunyavishyaaH) worldly pleasures obtained from the three gunas i.e. Rajgun-Brahma, Satgun-Vishnu, and Tamgun-Shiv (vedaH) with the knowledge of (nistraigunyaH) rising above the three gunas (nirdwandwaH) free from the perplexities of joys and sorrows etc (nityasatvasthH) situated in the eternal thing, SatyaPurush i.e. the Supreme God (niryogkshemH) not desiring yogkshem i.e. not desiring worldly pleasures in return for Bhakti (aatmvaan’) believer in self (bhav) be. (45)

Translation

Oh Arjun! With the knowledge of the worldly pleasures obtained from the three gunas i.e. Rajgun-Brahma, Satgun-Vishnu, and Tamgun-Shiv, rising above the three gunas, free from the perplexities of joys-sorrows, situated in the eternal thing, SatyaPurush i.e. the Supreme God, not desiring yog kshem i.e. not desiring worldly pleasures in return for Bhakti, be the believer in self.

त्रौगुण्यविषयाः, वेदाः, निस्त्रौगुण्यः, भव, अर्जुन,
निद्र्वन्द्वः, नित्यसत्त्वस्थः, निर्योगक्षेमः, आत्मवान्।।45।।

अनुवाद: (अर्जुन) हे अर्जुन! (त्रौगुण्यविषयाः) तीनों गुणों अर्थात् रजगुण-ब्रह्मा, सतगुण विष्णु, तमगुण शिव के भोगों के (वेदाः) ज्ञान से (निस्त्रौगुण्यः) तीनों गुणों से ऊपर उठ कर (निद्र्वन्द्वः) हर्ष-शोकादि द्वन्द्वोंसे रहित (नित्यसत्त्वस्थः) नित्यवस्तु सत्यपुरूष अर्थात् पूर्ण परमात्मामें स्थित (निर्योगक्षेमः) योग क्षेमको अर्थात् भक्ति के प्रतिफल में संसारिक सुख न चाहनेवाला (आत्मवान्) आत्म विश्वासी (भव) हो। (45)
