Chapter 18 Verse 38

Vishyendryasanyogaat, yat, tat, agre, amrtopmm,
Parinaame, visham, iv, tat, sukham, raajsam, smrtam ||38||

Translation: (Yat) which (sukham) happiness (vishyendriyasanyogaat) arises from the union of the senses and the sense objects (tat) that (agre) at first, at the time of experience (amrtopmm) although seems like nectar (parinaame) in the end (visham) poison (iv) is equal to (tat) that happiness (raajsam) Rajas (smrtam) is said to be. (38)

Translation

That happiness which arises from the union of the senses and the sense objects, although at first seems like nectar at the time of experience, is equivalent to poison in the end – that happiness is said to be Rajas.


विषयेन्द्रियसंयोगात्, यत्, तत्, अगे्र, अमृतोपमम्,
परिणामे, विषम्, इव, तत्, सुखम्, राजसम्, स्मृतम्।।38।।

अनुवाद: (यत्) जो (सुखम्) सुख (विषयेन्द्रियसंयोगात्) विषय और इन्द्रियोंके संयोगसे होता है (तत्) वह (अगे्र) पहले भोगकालमें (अमृृतोपमम्) अमृतके तुल्य प्रतीत होनेपर भी (परिणामे) परिणाममें (विषम्) विषके (इव) तुल्य है इसलिये (तत्) वह सुख (राजसम्) राजस (स्मृतम्) कहा गया है। (38)
